Last week, several VDL horses delivered outstanding performances at the prestigious Spruce Meadows show in Calgary, Canada. Both Quintin VDL and Farrel VDL claimed impressive victories at top international level.
Quintin VDL (Quaprice Bois Margot x Emillion), ridden by Vaclav Stanek, won the 1.60m Grand Prix with a double clear and a fast jump-off time of 42.72 seconds. Quintin VDL was sold by VDL Stud through the WEF Sport Horse Auction to Lothlorien Farm. He was bred by Dennis van Tilburg, and it is fantastic to see him now excelling at the highest level of the sport.
Farrel VDL (Cardento x Stakkato), ridden by Daniel Coyle, also claimed a win in one of the classes at Spruce Meadows. Farrel was bred by VDL Stud out of the Stakkato mare Bechery and was also sold through the WEF Sport Horse Auction. A fantastic result for this promising stallion from our own breeding program.
Mendoza VDL (Harley VDL x Cardento), now successfully ridden by Darragh Kenny, secured a strong 2nd place in a 1.50m class and placed 6th in the Accumulator. Mendoza VDL was bred by VDL Stud out of the Cardento mare B-Dame.
Other VDL offspring also impressed in Calgary. Igor GPH (Harley VDL), ridden by Kara Chad, finished 2nd in the CSI5 1.60m Grand Prix*. He was bred by the Angenent family in Woubrugge (NED).
Liamar (Etoulon VDL), ridden by William Martin (CAN), won the 1.30m class. He was bred by W.H. Wolswinkel.
Finally, Tulara Zirensky (Zirocco Blue VDL) and Katie Laurie (NZL) won the 1.45m class. This talented mare was bred by Matk Fraser from Australia.
